Belleville Senators News Release

The Belleville Senators erased 3-0 first period deficit to beat the Laval Rocket 5-3 Saturday night at Place Bell.

Marcus Hogberg stopped 21 shots for Belleville while Jack Rodewald (2), Eric Selleck and Max Reinhart scored for the Sens. Laval had goals from Chris Terry, Luc-Olivier Blain, Kerby Rychel while Michael McNiven made 17 saves.

Trailing 3-2 entering the third, Belleville completed the comeback as Rodewald netted his second of the game at 12:04 as he buried Ben Sexton's centering pass to completely erase the Rocket's early 3-0 lead.

The Sens took its first lead of the game with 4:58 left in regulation as Ciampini wired a slap shot past McNiven from the right face-off circle with 4:58 left for his fifth goal of the season.

Reinhart sealed the win with an empty-net goal with 1:46 left.

The Rocket came out flying in the first period as they stormed to a 3-0 lead. Terry opened the scoring at 9:06 as the hosts took advantage of being a man-up as Sens forward Colin White was hurt behind the play and Terry buried his 26th of the year past a screened Hogberg.

It was 2-0 Laval at 12:29 through Blain's second of the season as he took a David Broll feed to beat Hogberg with a backhander before Rychel made it 3-0 at 17:19 as he skated into the slot to bury a one-timer off of Terry's cross-ice feed.

The Sens got on the board at 4:25 of the second as Rodewald intercepted a loose Rocket pass and skated in on a breakaway to beat McNiven on the glove side for goals in back-to-back nights.

Belleville cut the deficit to just a goal with 2:59 left in the middle period as Selleck notched his first goal as a Senator after he found a loose puck sitting on the goal line after McNiven failed to handle Max Lajoie's long shot.

Defenceman Matt Petgrave made his Sens debut.

Belleville returns to action Friday when they host the Toronto Marlies. Tickets are available.
