San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO - Forward Alex Belzile found the back of the net for the third time of the game in the third round of the shootout to lift the San Antonio Rampage (28-24-9-0) over the Iowa Wild (27-18-8-5) 4-3 on Friday at the AT&T Center.
After more than 22 minutes of scoreless action, Belzile got the Rampage on the board first at 2:41 of the middle frame after the forward got behind the Wild's defense and beat netminder Niklas Svedberg with a wrist shot. Belzile added his second of the night less than four minutes later after he skated out to the slot and found the back of the net at the 6:16 mark. Iowa cut into the Rampage lead nearly 10 minutes later after Justin Kloos gathered a rebound in front of the net and fired the puck into the cage at the 16:21 mark.
San Antonio regained its two-goal lead at 4:34 of the final period as Mason Geertsen found Andrew Agozzino on a breakaway, leading to his team-leading 15th goal of the season. Zach Palmquist made it a one-goal game 10 minutes through the period after he collected a loose puck in front of the Rampage net and lit the lamp. Iowa evened the game at 17:41 when Alex Grant's shot attempt was deflected to Kloos, who found the back of the net for his second of the night.
After a scoreless overtime period, the contest was forced into a shootout. Michael Joly and Belzile each connected in the shootout, as Martin turned away two of the Wild's three shooters to secure a 4-3 victory for the Rampage.
