Senators home finale on Thursday Night
September 2, 2009 - Eastern League (EL1)
Harrisburg Senators News Release
After 23 seasons of baseball, tomorrow night fans get one last chance to see the "old" version of Metro Bank Park. The City of Harrisburg and the Harrisburg Senators announced in December a two-phase plan to renovate Metro Bank Park. Thursday night a special pre-game celebration is planned to commemorate the past 23 years of baseball on City Island.
Gregg Mace from acb27 will be present to emcee the ceremony, which will include a video tribute to the "old" stadium and some of the spectacular moments that it has seen. Past employees of the team will be recognized on the field during the ceremony and there might be some additional special guests as `well. Be sure to come out early on Thursday to help give the "old" Metro Bank Park the farewell it deserves.
Thursday night is also the final 2 buck beers on the boardwalk game this season presented by Miller Lite and 105.7 the X. It is also fan appreciation night, so everyone through the gates will receive something free from the Senators. Gates open at 5:30pm for the 7:00pm first pitch.
Once the season is over phase II of Metro Bank Park's renovation will begin. The second phase of the project includes updating the seating behind home plate and along the base lines and adding corporate suites.
Tickets for tomorrow's game are available online at www.senatorsbaseball.com. They are also available by phoning the Sens offices tomorrow at 717-231-4444 or by visiting the Little Red Ticket Box Office built by Home in Hand on the Walnut Street Bridge beginning at 9:00am Thursday morning.
