Harrisburg Senators News Release

Harrisburg, PA - RHP Zack Segovia turned in his best outing as a Harrisburg Senator as the Senators topped the Altoona Curve, 6-2, Friday at Commerce Bank Park. Segovia worked seven innings, his longest start of the year, and allowed just two runs in addition to an RBI sacrifice fly at the plate. The Senators pounced on Altoona mistakes in snapping a four-game losing streak.

The Curve took the lead in the top of the 1st without a hit. Newly-acquired Jose Tabata drew a one-out walk, stole second, went to third on a groundout and scored on a wild pitch.

Harrisburg came back in the bottom of the 3rd. Ian Desmond singled, went to second on a fielder's choice and scored when Mike Daniel bounced what looked to be a tailor-made double-play ball to short. The ball went under the Altoona shortstop's glove, Desmond scored and runners were at first and second. Two pitches later, Seth Bynum cashed in on the miscue with a three-run missile to left, putting the Senators up 4-1.

The Senators kept the momentum in the bottom of the 4th. Ofilio Castro hit a leadoff single and scored when Desmond followed with an RBI double. He moved to third on a wild pitch and scored when Segovia lifted a sacrifice fly to center to give Harrisburg a 6-1 advantage.

In the 5th, the Curve plated another run. Jonel Pacheco was hit by a pitch and scored when Steve Lerud followed with an RBI double to cut it to 6-2.

Segovia picked up the win to stay perfect as a Senator at 2-0. RHP Yoslan Herrera (6-8) was saddled with the loss in his return from the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Senators upped their record to 65-55. Altoona fell to 54-67.

The Senators and Curve continue the five-game series Saturday at 6:05 PM. Harrisburg sends LHP Cory VanAllen (3-1, 4.55 ERA) to the mound against Altoona LHP Kyle Bloom (2-7, 4.71 ERA).
