Erie SeaWolves News Release
Harrisburg piled on late in a 13-3 win over Erie on Friday night.
Ty Madden and a pair of Harrisburg pitchers dueled with zeroes through the first four innings. Michael Cuevas went the first 2.2 innings for the Senators before handing the ball to Alemao Hernandez.
The fifth inning proved challenging for Madden. Israel Pineda led off with a double. Jackson Cluff followed with a two-run home run to give Harrisburg the lead. Later in the inning, James Wood hit a two-run double to make it 4-0.
Madden stayed on the mound for the sixth but departed after the first two batters hit singles. Austin Bergner entered and allowed a sacrifice fly to Jacob Young, making it 5-0. After Harrisburg loaded the bases with two-out, Trey Lipscomb reached on an infield single. A second run scored on the play on a throwing error by Trei Cruz.
The SeaWolves' bats started to awaken in the bottom of the sixth. With two out, Erie notched four consecutive singles. Daniel Cabrera and Mario Feliciano's singles in the frame each scored runs, making it 7-2.
In the seventh, Justice Bigbie blasted his third home run of the series. It cut the deficit to 7-3.
The Senators put the game away in the eighth inning against Michael Bienlien. After a leadoff walk, J.T. Arruda slammed a two-run home run over the batter's eye in center field, making it 9-3. Bienlien would leave with two out and the bases loaded. Yaya Chentouf entered and surrendered a grand slam to Frankie Tostado, punctuating a six-run frame and opening up a 13-3 Senators lead.
Hernandez (4-6) earned the win. Madden (2-3) was charged with the loss.
Erie will open with Adam Wolf in a bullpen day on Saturday. He's opposed by DJ Herz, who makes his Harrisburg debut after being acquired in last week's Jeimer Candelario trade. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
