ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION... Today, the SeaWolves return home beginning a four-game series with their Southern Division rival, the Akron Aeros (Cleveland Indians) at Jerry Uht Park. The âWolves dropped the final two games of the road trip to Altoona and sit six games over .500. After plating 19 runs in the series opener against the Curve, Altoona outscored the Howlers 11-4 in the final two games to take the series. Entering play tonight, the âWolves sit in fourth place in the Southern Division, 9.5 games behind Akron,3.5 games behind second place Reading and 1.5 games behind third place Bowie...Akron is 5-5 in its last 10 games and is coming off of a loss on Thursday to Reading...In 2007, the SeaWolves trailed Akron by six games heading into a three-game series before the All-Star break, the Howlers swept the series, narrowing the margin to three games, and eventually pulled ahead in the second half and won the Southern Division crown...Erie has taken five of the seven meetings against the Aeros this season...Erie enters tonight's game with the second most home wins (28) and the best home winning percentage (.651) in the Eastern League. The âWolves have won three of their last four home games.
The âWolves are hitting .021 points better at home than on the road...Since returning from the DL, Ryan Strieby has played in 10 games and is batting .359 (14x39) with two home runs and four RBI.
He is the hottest SeaWolf at the plate over the last 10 games. Strieby has hit safely in five straight games, two shy of a season-high. As a team, Erie is hitting .290 in the last 10 games and the club is 6-4 over that span...Erie will play 12 of its next 19 games against Akron.
