Aeros Send Pestano to DL; Edell Returns
July 10, 2009 - Eastern League (EL1)
Akron RubberDucks News Release
The Aeros made a roster move today, placing All-Star closer Vinnie Pestano on the disabled list and getting LHP Ryan Edell back from Class A Mahoning Valley.
Pestano, who was leading all of minor league baseball with 24 saves, has been sidelined with a right elbow strain. The native of Anaheim, CA was 2-3 with a 2.86 ERA in addition to those 24 saves in 27 chances. The side-armer pitched a scoreless inning yesterday (he did allow two inherited runners to score) and has struck out 31 in 34.2 innings this year.
Edell is expected to make the start for Akron tomorrow in game two of a four-game series in Erie.
