
SeaWolves Drop Series Finale to Squirrels

Erie SeaWolves News Release
The SeaWolves held a pair of early leads on Sunday against the Richmond Flying Squirrels but could not avoid their fifth straight loss, falling in the series finale 5-2.
The teams exchanged runs in the fourth inning. Erie grabbed the lead in the top half when Andrew Navigato homered to left off of Squirrels starter Aaron Blair. In the bottom half, David Villar homered off of Erie starter A.J. Ladwig.
In the top of the fifth, Erie regained a one-run lead. Cole MacLaren led off with a walk and moved into scoring position on a Yariel Gonzalez base hit. Kerry Carpenter singled home MacLaren.
Richmond quickly tied the game once again in the bottom of the fifth. Brandon Martorano led off with a single and moved to third on a Luis Basabe double. Martorano scored on a one-out sacrifice fly by Sandro Fabian.
The Squirrels took the lead against Erie reliever Chavez Fernander in the seventh when Diego Rincones homered with one out for a 3-2 advantage.
Richmond added to it's lead in the eighth. Villar was hit by a pitch with one out to put an insurance run on base. Heath Quinn homered to left with two outs off of Fernander for a 5-2 Squirrels lead.
Gerson Garabito (2-3) earned the win for Richmond hurling two scoreless innings in relief, allowing two hits with a walk and two strikeouts.
Patrick Routolo tossed a scoreless ninth inning for his ninth save.
Fernander (1-1) took the loss allowing three runs on two hits with a walk and two strikeouts.
Both starters took no-decisions. Ladwig went five innings allowing two runs on seven hits with no walks and five strikeouts. Ladwig has now worked at least five innings in 11 consecutive starts. Blair allowed two runs on four hits with two walks and seven strikeouts in five innings.
