
SeaWolves Drop Series Finale to Ducks

The SeaWolves dropped the finale of a five-game series on Monday afternoon to the Akron RubberDucks 4-3 at Canal Park.
Erie jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. With Wynton Bernard on first, Dean Green stepped to the plate with two outs and clubbed a two run homer, his ninth, over the center field wall.
Akron responded in the bottom half of the inning tacking up two runs of their own tying the game up 2-2 against Erie starter Chad Green. Erik Gonzalez singled with one out and Yandy Diaz walked which brought up Anthony Gallas. Gallas stroked a ball to deep center off of the base of the wall which scored both Gonzalez and Diaz.
The ballgame remained 2-2 until the top of the seventh inning where Erie pulled ahead 3-2. Connor Harrell started the Erie half off with a single, he advanced to third on an Austin Green sacrifice bunt. Harold Castro then pushed a ground ball to the right side of the infield as Harrell advanced to third. With Harrell on third, Bernard stepped up with two outs and singled home Harrell.
Akron answered in the eighth inning, once again tying the game as Gallas stepped to the plate with and smashed a solo homerun to left.
Erie was held scoreless in the top of the ninth, giving Akron a chance to win it in the bottom half. The first batter of the inning Jordan Smith welcomed Erie reliever Confessor Lara with a walk of solo homerun as Akron took the ballgame, a 4-3 final.
Green took the no-decision allowing two runs, one earned, on seven hits with two walks and five strikeouts.
