NYSEG Stadium - Binghamton, NY - 6:35 PM
LAST GAME: The B-Mets fell, 4-1, against Harrisburg Wednesday night at NYSEG Stadium. Binghamton scored their lone run in the third inning on a Gavin Cecchini home run, his fifth of the year. Michael Fulmer tossed seven shutout innings in the start, allowing just four baserunners and striking out six batters. He earned a no-decision as Matt Koch came on in relief and allowed four runs in the final two frames. Binghamton got the tying run to the plate in the ninth inning, before Jared King struck out swinging.
BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Robert Gsellman is making his fifth start with Binghamton and the first of his career against Harrisburg. The righty has lost three of his first B-Met starts, including his last trip to the mound. Gsellman allowed three runs and six hits over seven innings against New Hampshire. He has lowered his ERA in each of his past three starts. Binghamton has scored just eight total runs in Gsellman's four starts.
HARRISBURG STARTER: RHP Dakota Bacus is making his eighth appearance and seventh start with Harrisburg. His first outing was against Binghamton, holding the B-Mets to two runs in six innings for the win. It was his Eastern League debut as Bacus is in his first season in the Nationals organization. He's coming off a seven-inning shutout against Altoona, earning his second consecutive win. Bacus has allowed more than two earned runs in one of his six starts.
ONE SIDED: The B-Mets have been outscored by Harrisburg by 20 runs through the first nine meetings, despite winning four games. Harrisburg is averaging 6.8 runs per game against the B-Mets, batting .304. Binghamton is just 2-5 in their last seven games against Harrisburg.
DOUBLE TROUBLE: Binghamton has hit into 15 double plays in their nine games against Harrisburg. The Senators have turned more twin killings against the B-Mets than other team, despite facing Binghamton just nine times.
HOMER: Binghamton has homered in four consecutive games for the first time since July 20-23, 2014. The B-Mets have not homered in five consecutive games since May 22-27, 2014, when they did in six consecutive. Binghamton is 23-11 when homering this season. The B-Mets have homered in 10 of their last 12 games, while Harrisburg has not homered in eight games.
GRAND THEFT: Harrisburg is 16-for-19 in stolen base attempts over their past eight games. The Senators are 6-for-8 against the B-Mets this season. Meanwhile, Binghamton is 11-for-13 in stolen base attempts over their last 27 games.
THAT'S NOT RIGHT: Harrisburg is batting .238 against right-handed pitching this season, the lowest mark in the EL. The Senators are batting .258 against lefties.
RBI DROUGHT: LJ Mazzilli has not driven in a run in 20 games. It's the longest drought of his career, surpassing a nine-game stretch from 2014. Mazzilli is 2-for-23 (.087) when batting with runners in scoring position this season. His lone RBIs came on a home run.
ALL GOOD THINGS: Michael Conforto failed to reach base Wednesday night for the first time as a B-Met. His on-base streak of 21 games is the 10th longest in the EL this season.
SLUMP BUSTER: Gavin Cecchini is 4-for-6 in the series with a sacrifice fly and a walk in his eight plate appearances. Cecchini was previously 3-for-36. The home run Wednesday was Cecchini's first since May 23rd. He has driven in a run in back-to-back games for the first time since April 11-14.
NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets wrap up their series with Harrisburg Friday night at NYSEG Stadium at 7:05 PM. RHP Seth Lugo gets the ball for Binghamton against RHP Austin Voth.
