BILOXI, MS - Matt Deschamps had a career night, scoring two goals, and Ryan Cruthers and Kyle Peto each had a goal and an assist, but it wasn't enough as the Mississippi Sea Wolves fell 6-5 in overtime in front of 5,037 fans at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on Friday night.
Matt Deschamps' third goal of the season gave the Sea Wolves a 1-0 when he banged home the rebound of Kyle Peto's shot from the left point at 6:40 of the first period. Chris Capraro evened the score on the power play at one-apiece for Charlotte when he knocked home the rebound of a shot from Jeff Miles at 14:25. At 15:40, Charlotte's Chris Murray tucked home a wraparound from behind the net to give the Checkers a 2-1 lead.
Ryan Cruthers tapped home a goalmouth pass from Mathieu Melanson at 18:07 that was allowed after referee Francis Charron conferred with the goal judge to even the game at two.
Capraro's second goal of the game came on a break down the right wing when he fired a wrist shot over Sea Wolves goalie Ryan Munce's glove just 53 seconds into the second frame. Kyle Peto bounced a centering pass off the skates of Charlotte defenseman Ken Scuderi to even the game at 3-3 just 58 seconds later.
Deschamps' second goal of the game on a slap-shot from the right point gave the Sea Wolves a 4-3 lead at 14:49 of the second. Jason Tejchma's brilliant through-the-legs redirection of Mike Nesdill's pass gave the Sea Wolves a two-goal lead at 6:04 of the third. Chris Murray's second of the game cut the Sea Wolves' lead to one at 10:25, and at 12:17 of the third David Rutherford hit Mike Bayrack with a backdoor pass that Bayrack hammered home to tie the game once again.
After a spat of after-the-whistle rough stuff sent Kyle Peto and Mathieu Melanson to the penalty box in overtime, Chris Murray fed Jeff Miles for a one-timer that annihilated the water bottle atop the Sea Wolves' goal as it hit the twine for the game-winner at the 3:23 mark of the overtime.

BILOXI, MS - Jeff Kyrzakos potted his first two goals in a Sea Wolves sweater, Ryan Menei added the game-winner, and Ryan Munce made 40 saves as the Mississippi Sea Wolves defeated the South Carolina Stingrays 4-2 to snap a six-game winless streak at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on Sunday afternoon.
Jeff Kyrzakos' first goal in a Sea Wolves' sweater gave Mississippi a 1-0 lead when he drove a wrist shot under the pads of South Carolina goaltender Ian Vigier.
South Carolina grabbed a 2-1 lead on a pair of goals just 13 seconds apart as Michael Scherer's fifth of the year at 2:59 of the second period got the Stingrays on the board, and Keith Johnson broke down the right wing and fired a wrist shot that beat Ryan Munce over the blocker at 3:12.
Mathieu Melanson's 12th goal of the season, a power-play blast from the right point, beat Vigier through traffic to draw the game even at two-apiece.
The Sea Wolves grabbed the lead back 2:46 into the third stanza when Ryan Menei ripped a wrist shot over Vigier's glove hand as he broke down the left wing.
Mark Rooneem cemented the victory with an empty-net goal at 19:16 of the third.
