
Sea Wolves Sign Escobedo; Place Drake On IR

BILOXI, Miss. â The Mississippi Sea Wolves announced today that the team has signed free agent defenseman Brian Escobedo (EHS-coh-bee-doh) and placed left wing Lucas (LEW-kahs) Drake on the 7-day injured reserve.
Escobedo, 22, appeared in two games earlier this season with the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL, where he collected one assist. The 6-foot and 180-pound Escobedo played four years at Bowling Green State University registering five goals, 12 points and 24 penalty minutes in 33 games during the 2003-04 season. The native of Bayside, New York, Escobedo joined the ECHL Cincinnati Cyclones after college last season collecting three assists in eight games. Escobedo attended the American Hockey League training camp of the Binghamton Senators in 2004.
Drake, 24, is without a point in 10 games with Mississippi this season. The 5-foot-10 and 185-pound Drake is in his first full season of professional hockey after appearing in nine games with the Sea Wolves in 2003-04.
Escobedo is expected to make his Sea Wolves debut at 7:35 p.m. on Friday as Mississippi hosts the Augusta Lynx at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. The game promotion consists of Military 2-for-1, sponsored by Keesler Federal Credit Union. All military personnel, active or retired, receive two tickets for the price of one by showing military identification at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum box office.
After traveling to Texas for a contest at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday, the Sea Wolves return home to host Augusta at 5:05 p.m. on Sunday. It's Kids Day and the game promotion features a $5 ticket for each child 12 years of age and under. There will be a postgame party for all ages at Village Sports Pub, located on Eisenhower Drive at Edgewater Village, Biloxi.
