Bombers drop third straight
November 16, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Dayton Bombers News Release
Atlantic City, NJ â The Dayton Bombers dropped a 3-1 decision to the north Division rival Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies in front of 1,423 at Historic Boardwalk Hall in New Jersey Tuesday night. It was Dayton's fourth game in five nights.
The Bullies struck first when Luke Curtin found Brett Nowak in front of the Dayton goal, and Nowak beat MIKE AYERS for the game's opening goal at 17:37 of the first period. That was also the tenth time in thirteen games Atlantic City scored the first goal of the game.
But MATT HERNEISEN was able to tie the game, 1-1, when he chipped a shot past Bullies goaltender Jake Moreland at 14:38 of the second period. The Bombers were shutout 3-0 in Reading Saturday night and 2-0 in Atlantic City Sunday afternoon, so the goal from Herneisen snapped a scoreless drought of 157 minutes 18 seconds for Dayton.
The Bullies erupted for two goals 1:37 seconds apart in the third period, and that proved to be the difference. Luke Curtin scored a powerplay goal at 5:29, and Derek Edwardson added an insurance marker as the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies extended their winning streak to five games with the 3-1 victory. The Bombers have now lost three-in-a-row.
This five game road trip ends Friday night in Johnstown as the Chiefs host the Bombers at 7:05 PM. The next home game is scheduled for Saturday, November 21st against Johnstown at 7:00 PM.
The Dayton Bombers are the proud affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets and a member of the ECHL - America's Premier "AA" Hockey League.
