May 10, 2007 - Eastern League (EL1)
Portland Sea Dogs News Release

Portland, Maine - Relievers Tim McNab and Carlos Muniz combined for four hitless innings of scoreless relief as the Binghamton Mets ended the Portland Sea Dogs' five-game winning streak with a 4-2 win Thursday night before 4,834 fans at Hadlock Field.

Kevin Mulvey (3-2) scattered seven hits and two runs over five innings to earn the win for the B-Mets, who won for only the second time in their last six games. Tommy Hottovy (0-4) was touched for four runs in seven innings of work to suffer the loss for Portland.

The Sea Dogs pieced together three singles from Jed Lowrie, Eric Crozier and Dusty Brown to build a 1-0 lead in the first inning. However, the B-Mets scored twice in the second inning on Brett Harper's third home run and an RBI single from Corey Coles. Coles also doubled and scored on an RBI single by Caleb Stewart as part of a two-run fifth inning.

Portland rallied to score a run in the fifth inning on singles by Jeff Corsaletti and Lowrie and a run-scoring grounder by Crozier. The Sea Dogs would put only one runner on base over the final four innings off McNab and Muniz.

The four-game series continues Friday night when Clay Buchholz (1-1) opposes Jose Sanchez (0-2).

NOTES: The Sea Dogs failed in their attempt to win a sixth straight game for the first time since winning 10 in a row last May 31-June 13... The B-Mets are now 4-3 against the Sea Dogs, but 6-17 against the rest of the Eastern League... Kyle Jackson and Lincoln Holdzkom tossed scoreless innings of relief for the Sea Dogs -- the bullpen has allowed only 3 earned runs in 21 innings over the last 6 games.
