Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release
Brett Harper homered for the second straight day and the bullpen combined for four innings of no-hit relief, helping the Binghamton Mets to a 4-2 win over the Portland Sea Dogs at Hadlock Field Thursday.
After Portland (15-12) went ahead on Dusty Brown's two-out RBI single off Kevin Mulvey in the first, the B-Mets took the lead for good in the second. Harper led off the inning by going deep off Tommy Hottovy for his team-leading fourth homer of the year. Two batters later, J.E. Cruz walked and moved to second on Corey Ragsdale's groundout before Corey Coles singled him home for a 2-1 B-Mets lead.
Binghamton (10-20) added to their lead in the fifth. After Hottovy (0-4) hit Ragsdale with a pitch, Coles doubled him to third. Two batters later, Miguel Negron scored Ragsdale with a groundout before Caleb Stewart's infield hit brought in Coles for a 4-1 B-Mets advantage.
The Sea Dogs didn't get to Mulvey (3-3) again until the fifth. Jeff Corsaletti and Jed Lowrie led off the frame with singles and, two batters later, Eric Crozier's fielder's choice scored Corsaletti with the game's final run.
Relievers Tim McNab and Carlos Muñiz followed Mulvey by retiring 12 of the 13 they faced. Muñiz tossed a 1-2-3 ninth for his fifth save in six chances.
Friday, the B-Mets play the second game of their four-game series with the Portland Sea Dogs. Jose Sanchez (0-2, 6.30) will start for the B-Mets against Clay Buchholz (1-1, 1.98) of Portland. Game time is 6:00 from Hadlock Field with the radio broadcast starting at 5:45 on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.

Ricardo Morales has the other...Coles is now 4 for 11 with two runs scored and an RBI in two games with Binghamton, extending his hit streak between Binghamton and St. Lucie to 12 games...Portland had baserunners on in all five innings Mulvey worked, stranding six against him.
