Fisher Cats beat Bowie 3-1 Thursday, Litsch throws 7 no-hit innings

(Bowie, MD)-- Jesse Litsch (5-1) worked seven no-hit innings, improving to 5-1, and the Fisher Cats defeated the Bowie Baysox 3-1 Thursday night at Prince George's Stadium.

Litsch allowed only two base runners, walking Ruddy Yan in the fourth, and making an error on a ground ball hit up the first base line by Brandson Sing in the sixth. He struck out a season-high 9, including Brian Bass to close the 7th inning, the RELCO Enlightening Play of the Game.

New Hampshire (19-10) relievers Jesse Carlson and Tracy Thorpe carried the no-hitter to two outs in the ninth inning before Oscar Salazar doubled off the wall in left field, scoring Luis Hernandez, who had walked.

The Fisher Cats took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Robinzon Diaz doubled, Sergio Santos walked, and both scored on a double into the right field corner by Chip Cannon off Bowie (15-18) starter and loser Chris Waters (0-4).

In the fifth, Juan Peralta (3-for-3) and Dustin Majewski hit back-to-back doubles to build a 3-0 lead for Litsch and New Hampshire.

The Fisher Cats continue the seven-game roadtrip Friday night in Bowie, Maryland against the Baysox (Orioles Double-A). Right-hander Orlando Trias (0-0, 10.80) makes his second New Hampshire start against RHP Radhames Liz (1-2, 4.45). Radio coverage on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network (AM-610, Manchester; AM-930, Rochester; AM-1540, Exeter) begins at 6:45pm with Bob Lipman.
