
Sea Dogs Set to Host Seventh Annual Mother's Day 5K

Portland, Maine- The Portland Sea Dogs in conjunction with the Maine Track Club, Paradigm Window Solutions, and Sportshoe Center will be hosting the seventh annual Mother's Day road race on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 13th at 9:15am. Proceeds from the event are to benefit Maine Breast Cancer Research. There will also be a Kid's Run beginning at 8:30am that is free of charge.
Slugger and his Mom lead the way on the flat 5K course which begins in front of the Portland Expo building, travels down Congress Street, turning down Stevens Avenue, and making a right onto Brighton Avenue back down Deering Avenue into Fitzpatrick Stadium. The race culminates inside Hadlock Field in front of the third base dugout.
The top overall male and female finishers will receive a trophy, a pair of 2007 Season Tickets for the remainder of the 2007 Sea Dogs season, and throw out the ceremonial first-pitch prior to a future Sea Dogs game. The top three male and female finishers in each age group will also be presented with awards. All participants of the race will receive a complimentary ticket to attend a future Sea Dogs game.
Last year's race was extremely successful drawing more than 1,200 runners, this year an even larger field of runner's is expected to support a great cause. The race is open to the public. Walkers and wheelchair racers are welcome as well.
Registration will take place from 8:00 to 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 12th and 7:00 to 9:00 AM on Sunday, May 13th at Hadlock Field. You may register on-line at www.seadogs.com, a printable registration form is also available at www.seadogs.com. Registration is $15.00. Chip timing will be used. The kid's race is free. Additionally the Sea Dogs will wear pink uniforms on Mother's Day. The uniforms will be signed and auctioned on EBay to raise money for Maine Breast Cancer Research.
