NEWS AND NOTES
BACK TO BINGHAMTON : The Portland Sea Dogs took 3 of 4 from the Binghamton Mets to end July, and open up a 3-game weekend series with the B-Mets on Friday night at NYSEG Stadium...The 'Dogs split a four-game series with the Altoona Curve the last 2 days at Hadlock Field and finished the season 15-20 against the Western Division...Mitch Atkins is taking the rotation spot of Jacob Dahlstrand.
2-1 IN BOTH GAMES : Portland lost the suspended game 2-1 to the Curve, but rebounded for a 2-1 win in game two on Thursday night at Hadlock Field...Ryan Court delivered a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally the 'Dogs to victory...Kevin McAvoy (8-7) pitched a complete game, giving up one run on five hits, three walks and five strikeouts...Court went 2-for-3, knocking home Aneury Tavarez (1-for-3) and Mauricio Dubon (1-for-3).
