Summary

Akron's Mike Papi slugged a two-run home run, and Rob Kaminsky allowed one run over seven innings, as the RubberDucks extended their winning streak to six games with a 4-1 victory over the Bowie Baysox on Friday night at Prince George's Stadium.

Turning Point

Papi went deep to right field in the seventh inning off Baysox reliever Stephan Crichton (2-6) to give the RubberDucks a 3-1 lead. It was Papi's third of the season, and came after Crichton issued a leadoff walk to Nellie Rodriguez .

Winging It

Kaminsky (8-7) continued his personal hot streak, winning his third consecutive start. He worked seven innings and allowed just one run on six hits. He walked one and struck out four. Kaminsky hasn't allowed more than two runs in any of his last four starts. Louis Head tossed a scoreless eighth, and Nick Maronde retired the side in order in the ninth for his third save.

Duck Tales

Eric Stamets ripped a solo homer to left in the sixth, breaking a scoreless tie, against Jeff Beliveau. It was Stamets' fifth of the year and first since late May. Daniel Salters was 2-4 with a pair of singles.

Notebook

The Ducks (64-60) have won six in a row and eight of the last 10...With Harrisburg and Altoona both losing Friday, Akron has taken over 2nd place in the EL West and are within four games of the 1st-place Curve with 17 games to play...The Baysox (52-73) have lost four of the last five...Bowie starter Jason Garcia went the first five innings without allowing a run...Time of game: 2:35... Attendance: 4,483.
