Portland Sea Dogs News Release

MANCHESTER, NH - Led by strong pitching, the Portland Sea Dogs won 3-2 over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Wednesday night at Delta Dental Stadium. The Sea Dogs improve to 9-5 for the season and remain in first place of the Northeast Division while the Fisher Cats fall to 5-9.

Enmanuel De Jesus made his first start of the season and dominated the Fisher Cats lineup. He pitched 3.2 innings allowing one run on two hits while walking two and striking out seven. Through his first three innings of work, he only allowed one hit and had struck out six.

Matthew Kent pitched 4.0 shutout innings in relief allowing one hit while striking out four. Jose Adam tossed the final 1.1 innings allowing one run on three hits while striking out two.

Trailing 1-0 in the seventh, two singles and a walk loaded the bases for the Sea Dogs. Jeisson Rosario then worked a bases loaded walk, bringing home Roldani Baldwin and the game was tied, 1-1. Pedro Castellanos then popped up a sacrifice fly to centerfield allowing Ryan Fitzgerald to score and Portland led, 2-1 after the seventh.

Johan Mieses led off the eighth inning with a solo blast to right field, extending Portland's lead 3-1. Miseses now has seven home runs and continues to lead the Double-A Northeast League in that category.

The Fisher Cats threatened in the bottom of the ninth inning after LJ Talley led off with a double to left field. Chris Bec then brough him home with a single, but the Sea Dogs were about to retire the side and secure the 3-2 win.

The Sea Dogs and Fisher Cats meet again tomorrow night at 6:35pm at Delta Dental Stadium. Portland will send RHP Kutter Crawford (0-0, 1.13 ERA) to the mound while New Hampshire will have RHP Maximo Castillo (1-1, 4.50 ERA) on the bump.
