Sea Dogs Lose Third Straight One-Run Game, 3-2 in Reading

Reading, PA - The Reading Fightin Phils (37-32) made it three straight wins, holding on for a 3-2 win over the Portland Sea Dogs (26-44) on Monday night at FirstEnergy Stadium. With the win, Reading takes 3 of 4 and leads the season series 9-6.

RHP Zach Eflin (5-4) earned his third win of the season against Portland, tossing six scoreless on six hits and four strikeouts.

Portland made it interesting in the ninth inning, receiving a two-out, two-run single by Oscar Tejeda. Stephen Shackleford retired Manuel Margot on a force out to end the game. Margot went 1-for-4 with a single in his first Double-A at-bat.

Heri Quevedo (0-4) suffered his fourth straight loss, giving up seven hits and two runs over 4.1 IP.

Reading snapped the scoreless contest in the fifth inning, scoring twice off Quevedo, and taking a 2-0 lead. Kelly Dugan and Brock Stassi had RBI doubles. Quevedo worked 4.1 innings, giving up seven hits, two runs, two walks and three strikeouts.

The Fightins made it 3-0 in the sixth inning, scoring an unearned run off Simon Mercedes. KC Serna led off with a single and scored an an error by LF Keury De La Cruz.

Robby Scott tossed two scoreless innings and hasn't allowed an earned run in his last 12 outings.

The Sea Dogs and New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays affiliate) meet for the first time on Tuesday night in Manchester, New Hampshire. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. RHP William Cuevas (6-4, 3.61) makes the start for Portland. Taylor Cole (2-4, 4.76) gets the start for New Hampshire.
