Akron RubberDucks News Release

The RubberDucks rallied with a game-tying Anthony Gallas solo home run in the bottom of the eighth and a game-winning, walk-off home run by Jordan Smith in the bottom of the ninth to defeat the Erie SeaWolves 4-3 on Monday afternoon at Akron's Canal Park.

Turning Point

Gallas' solo home run in the bottom of the eighth tied the game at 3-3 and Smith broke the tie by ripping the second pitch in the bottom of the ninth inning into the right-field stands for a 4-3 Akron win.

Mound Presence

Will Roberts started for the RubberDucks seeking his 26th career Akron win, which would have given him the all-time franchise mark, but he got a no-decision after allowing three earned runs on 10 hits over seven innings pitched. He didn't walk a batter and fanned one. He surrendered a two-run home run in the first inning to Erie's Dean Green and then a seventh-inning run, which put the SeaWolves up 3-2 at the time. Louis Head picked up his first win of the season with two scoreless innings of relief, allowing one hit and fanning one.

Duck Tales

Gallas continued his hot hitting, going 3-for-4 with a two-run, first-inning double and the game-tying home run in the eighth. Todd Hankins also added three hits, including his fifth triple of the season. Destin Hood also had a pair of hits for Akron.
