CURVE, Pa. - The Altoona Curve split a doubleheader with the Harrisburg Senators on Monday night to finish a five-game series at Peoples Natural Gas Field. The Curve dropped the first game, 7-2, but took the nightcap, 4-3.

Altoona (41-28) won three of the five games in the series over Harrisburg (30-40) to begin the eight-day, nine-game home stand.

The Curve jumped ahead in the second game of the night with a double by Dan Gamache that drove in Max Moroff. The Senators answered in the next inning when Chris Bostick tied the game at 1-1 with a single.

After a leadoff triple by Andy Vasquez to start the third, Mel Rojas Jr. broke the tie in the third with a sacrifice fly off of Senators starter James Simmons (Loss, 3-4). Gift Ngoepe added a pair of insurance runs with a two-run double in the sixth.

The Senators picked up two runs in the top of the seventh inning, but Curve reliever Jeff Inman (Save, 2) stranded the potential tying run on base to close out the Curve win.

Tom Harlan (Win, 5-2) pitched five innings of one-run ball, allowing just four hits. John Kuchno (Hold, 3) pitched a scoreless frame in the sixth, working around a walk by inducing a double play.

The Curve dropped the first game of the doubleheader against the Senators, 7-2, after giving up three runs in the first inning. Max Moroff went 0-for-3 to end his hitting streak a personal season-best 12 games.

Senators starter Colin Bates (Win, 3-0) threw 6.1 innings while allowing two runs on four hits. Curve starter Zack Dodson (Loss, 3-4) allowed season highs in hits (12) and runs (seven) over 6.2 innings.

Altoona meets Erie Tuesday night at Peoples Natural Gas for a Two-for-Tuesday presented by Atlantic Broadband. Fans can take advantage of buy one, get one free specials on tickets, hot dogs and small popcorns. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
