NEWS AND NOTES

ALMOST HOME: The Portland Sea Dogs end a seven-game trip on Sunday afternoon against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays affiliate) at Delta Dental Stadium...Portland is 8-9-2 in road series this season, and have one more road set, taking on the Binghamton Rumble Ponies on August 26-29 (five games in four days)...Starting tomorrow night, the 'Dogs begin a seven-game homestand against Reading and Trenton.

NO ONE-HIT WONDER: Despite just one hit, the Sea Dogs held on for a 2-1 win in the middle game of the series on Saturday night...The game-ending on RF Marcus Wilson's leaping catch up against the right-field wall, which turned into a double play at second base...Portland scored both runs in the first inning off losing pitcher RHP Hector Perez (7-5)...LHP Daniel McGrath tossed seven strong innings on four hits, one run, and eight strikeouts to earn the win.
