NEWS AND NOTES

BASEBALL AT HIGH NOON : The Portland Sea Dogs snapped a four-game losing streak on Tuesday night, and host the Trenton Thunder (Yankees affiliate) in the rubber game of their 3-game set on Wednesday afternoon at Hadlock Field...Portland is 2-4 on their 7-game homestand and seeks their first series win of the year...Portland is off tomorrow and will be the road team over the weekend at Hadlock against the Hartford Yard Goats (Rockies affiliate).

PITCHING GETS IT DONE : Kevin McAvoy (3-0) has three wins in as many Double-A starts, leading the Sea Dogs to a 4-2 win over the Thunder on Tuesday...McAvoy scattered 4 hits and one run over 6.0 IP...Wendell Rijo led Portland's offense with 2 RBI, picking up his first Double-A multi-hit and multi-RBI game...Cole Sturgeon finished 2-for-4 with an RBI triple in the fifth...Mitch Atkins tossed two perfect frames for his first hold and Chandler Shepherd allowed a run in the ninth, but earned his first Double-A save.
