Altoona Curve News Release
HARRISBURG, Pa. - The Altoona Curve could not hold an early lead in the final game of the season's first road trip, as the Curve dropped the rubber game of a three-game set to the Harrisburg Senators, 4-2, at FNB Field in Harrisburg.
Jose Osuna hit his third home run of the year, and his second in as many days, in the top of the first inning to give the Curve (5-8) an early 1-0 lead.
Harrisburg (6-6) responded in the bottom of the second winning to take a 2-1 lead on a two-run double from Adrian Sanchez, and scored again in the third on an RBI single by Kevin Keyes.
Tyler Eppler (Loss, 1-1) did not allow any more runs through the rest of his outing, tossing six innings and allowing eight hits while walking one and striking out five.
Altoona came within a run in the top of the sixth inning on an RBI single from Reese McGuire to plate Anderson Feliz, but Harrisburg re-extended their lead to two runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Senators starter Tyler Mapes (Win, 3-0) scattered four hits and two runs over his six innings of work, walking a batter and striking out two.
Jonathan Schwind worked a two-out walk in the top of the ninth against Harrisburg reliever Bryan Harper, but Dakota Bacus (Save, 1) retired Stetson Allie to end the game.
Feliz logged the only two-hit game for Altoona, while Harrisburg saw Keyes and Stephen Perez notch two-hit afternoons.
Altoona returns to PNG Field to begin seven-game homestand on Thursday by welcoming Richmond. Southpaw Cody Dickson (0-1, 3.24) gets the start to begin the series for the Curve, while righty-hander Chase Jonson (0-1, 5.63) toes the rubber for the Flying Squirrels for the 6 p.m. start.
Airtime on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network is scheduled for 5:45 p.m. from Peoples Natural Gas Field. Thursday is Throwback Thursday, where the Curve will wear uniforms from the inaugural 1999 season, as well as $1 hot dogs and $2 drink specials around the field.
