New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

MANCHESTER - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats got a booming home run from young third baseman Matt Dean, but couldn't muster any other offense, falling 9-2 to the Hartford Yard Goats in a Wednesday morning game at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.

The Fisher Cats (5-7) committed three errors in the field and only amassed four hits, fueling the loss. Hartford (10-4) picked up another series victory against the Fisher Cats, and will be returning to Northeast Delta Stadium in early May. The Fisher Cats had just three at-bats with runners in scoring position.

Hartford opened the scoring in the top of the second, with Correlle Prime smacking an RBI double off Fisher Cats starter John Anderson (L, 1-1) to plate Dillon Thomas. New Hampshire struck back in the bottom of the frame, as Matt Dean hammered a two-run homer to right field against Hartford starting pitcher German Marquez (W, 1-1), putting New Hampshire in front 2-1.

From there, though, it was all Hartford. Rosell Herrera and Thomas each contributed RBI singles in the top of the third, and David Dahl and Herrera each hit two-run homers in the fourth to blow the game wide open for a 7-2 lead. With Brady Dragmire in for New Hampshire in the top of the sixth, Thomas socked a two-run double to deep left, giving Hartford their final 9-2 advantage.

Anderson took the loss, allowing seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits and a walk in four innings while striking out four. Dragmire surrendered two runs on two hits and three walks while fanning one over 1.2 innings. Wil Browning gave up a hit and a walk over 2.1 innings while striking out two batters. Daniel Schlereth struck out one and allowed a walk in one inning.

The Fisher Cats have Thursday off before starting a three-game series against the Reading Fightin Phils, with righty Jason Berken drawing Friday's start for New Hampshire against Reading southpaw Anthony Vasquez. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. from FirstEnergy Park in Reading, and Bob Lipman has the call starting at 6:45 p.m. on the Fisher Cats Radio Network.
