Pitchers' Duel Ends with Wednesday Walkoff

PORTLAND, ME - In a game that went scoreless into the bottom of the 9th inning, the Portland Sea Dogs scratched together consecutive two-out hits for a walkoff 1-0 win over the Trenton Thunder Wednesday afternoon.
With temperatures sitting in the mid-50's, the Thunder and Sea Dogs pitching staffs went toe-to-toe right out of the gate trading zeros from the respective starting pitchers. Despite earning a no-decision, Daniel Camarena returned to the Trenton Thunder for his first Double-A appearance since August, 2014 after missing the entire 2015 season rehabbing his elbow. On just 44 pitches, Camarena allowed just two hits over four innings to give his offense the opportunity to jump ahead off Portland's starter.
However, Teddy Stankiewicz for the Sea Dogs was nearly as stingy over his six innings of shutout baseball in which he allowed just four hits before turning the ball over to his bullpen.
Entering the bottom of the 9th inning, the Thunder had outhit the Sea Dogs to that point 6-2 and Matt Tracy was on in relief. After retiring the first two batters of the frame, Tracy allowed a single to Jake Romanski before Jordan Betts doubled to right centerfield to score Romanski without a play at the plate.
On offense, Tyler Wade reached base with a bunt single and has now reached safely in all 13 games this season for the Thunder. Two multi-hit games on the day for Trenton were from right fielder Jared Mitchell (2-for-3, BB) and Jose Rosario (2-for-4). The Thunder have been shutout for the third time in the first 13 games of the season.
The Thunder pile on the bus and return home following the loss, as they prepare for a seven-game homestand starting with four games against the Akron RubberDucks. It will be Golf Night at ARM & HAMMER Park with the first 1,000 fans age 12+ receiving a golf towel from Cranbury Golf Club.
