Portland Sea Dogs News Release

Portland, Maine - Nathan Hickey homered as the Portland Sea Dogs (10-2, 50-31) defeated the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (3-8, 38-42) 2-1 in front of the 12th sellout crowd at Hadlock Field on Sunday afternoon. Portland took the series winning five of six games against Binghamton with their fourth straight win today and remain in first place in the Northeast Division of the Eastern League.

Isaac Coffey fired 5.1 innings with nine strikeouts to earn his third win with Portland. Jacob Webb, Brendan Cellucci, and Robert Kwiatkowski combined for 3.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

A pitcher's duel kept the ballgame scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning when Nathan Hickey blasted his ninth home run of the season to the batter's eye to put Portland on the board first. The two-run shot brought Chase Meidroth in with him and the Sea Dogs led, 2-0.

Binghamton plated their lone run in the top of the sixth after a sacrifice fly to left field from Agustin Ruiz but Portland held the lead.

Portland starter RHP Isaac Coffey (3-0, 3.93 ERA) earned the win after pitching 5.1 innings allowing just one run on three hits while walking three and striking out nine. A pair of holds were issued to RHP Jacob Webb (9) and LHP Brendan Cellucci (2) who combined for 2.2 scoreless innings. The save was awarded to RHP Robert Kwiatkowski (2) after pitching a perfect ninth inning. The loss was issued to Binghamton starter RHP Christian Scott (3-2, 3.38) after tossing 3.2 innings allowing two runs on four hits while walking one and striking out four.

The Sea Dogs are off for the next four days for the All-Star break. The season resumes with a three-game series on the road against the Reading Fightin Phils beginning on July 14, 2023. First pitch for game six is slated for 7:00pm. Both probable pitchers have yet to be announced. The Sea Dogs next homestand is July 18th through the 23rd against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
