Mahoning Valley Scrappers News Release
Williamsport, PA- The Mahoning Valley Scrappers found themselves as part of history on Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately it was on the wrong side of history, as the Williamsport Crosscutters used 3 pitchers to toss a no hitter and beat the Scrappers 8-0.
Yacsel Rios, Mark Meaders and Manny Martinez were the unhittable trio for Williamsport. Rios (4-2) started the game and worked 5 near perfect innings. He allowed 3 walks while striking out 6. Meaders followed and he pitched 3 perfect innings while striking out 3. Martinez worked a flawless 9th to complete the no hitter. He struck out James Roberts to end the game.
For Mahoning Valley, Cole Sulser (2-2) started and allowed 3 runs over 5 innings. He allowed 8 hits and struck out 4. Ben Heller went 2 innings in relief. He allowed just 1 hit and no runs. Harold Guerrero started the 8th inning but did not record an out. He allowed 3 hits and 5 runs. He walked 3. Manuel Carmona was able to record the final 2 outs of the 8th inning.
The Scrappers and Crosscutters will complete their season series on Monday night at 7:05. The Scrappers will send Kenny Mathews to the hill. You can catch all the action on www.mvscrappers.com with Tim Pozsgai.
