Scrappers Defeat Tigers in Final At-Bat

Niles, Ohio - KC Serna singled in Evan Frazar in the bottom of the ninth inning and the Scrappers beat the Tigers, 2-1.
The two teams received great pitching performances, with Brennan Smith throwing seven innings of one-run ball for Connecticut and Jeanmar Gomez and Joseph Colon combining for nine innings of one-run ball for Mahoning Valley.
Gomez, making a start for the Scrappers after pitching for the Columbus Clippers and Cleveland Indians this year, picked up a no-decision.
The Tigers scored first with a run in the top of the fourth inning. The Scrappers answered with a run in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game.
The Scrappers had nine hits - all singles - off Smith and reliever Ryan Woolley.
Colon picks up the win to improve to 2-2. Woolley picks up the loss to fall to 0-2.
The Scrappers and Tigers will play game two of their three-game series on Thursday night at 7:05 pm.
