Auburn Doubledays News Release
Brooklyn, NY-The Auburn Doubledays scored early and often en route to a 9-3 win at MCU Park in Brooklyn, NY on Wednesday night. Scoring two in the first, three in the second, and three more in the third, the Doubledays jumped out to an 8-0 lead and never looked back.
Auburn got things rolling in the first when Justin Miller and Roberto Perez reached on a single and an error and scored the game's first run on a groundout by Matt Skole. Three batters later, Caleb Ramsey singled to centerfield, plating Perez and putting the Doubledays up two runs.
Three more were added in the second inning on an RBI double by Justin Miller, an RBI single by Roberto Perez, and a sac fly by Matt Skole, increasing Auburn's lead to 5-0.
In the third, the Doubledays struck for three more runs on a bases loaded walk to Justin Miller and a 2 RBI single by Roberto Perez. It was all Doubledays through three innings, 8-0.
Brooklyn would attempt to make things interesting, plating two runs in the fourth inning off of starter Colin Bates and another in the sixth off of reliever Chad Jenkins. Unfortunately for the Cyclones, though, the Doubledays pitching was able to make key pitches and get out of jams with the Cyclones hitters bouncing into three double-plays and flying into another.
Auburn added the game's final run in the eighth inning when Justin Miller doubled with two outs and scored a batter later on a throwing error by Brooklyn shortstop, Daniel Muno. With a six-run lead, Ben Grisz did the rest, tossing three and one-third scoreless innings for Auburn in a 9-3 win.
The Doubledays and Cyclones will tangle again tomorrow evening in a 7:05pm start at MCU Park in Brooklyn, NY with Doubledays starter Brian Dupra getting the call against Cyclones right-hander Eduardo Aldama. Doubledays fans are invitied to join âVoice of the Doubledays,' for the pre-game show at 6:50pm on 89.1 FM in Auburn or on the internet at www.auburndoubledays.com.
