Scott's Seven Shutout Frames Leads Ponies To Series Opening Victory Over Hartford

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Behind Christian Scott's dominant start, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (1-0, 36-34) shutout the Hartford Yard Goats 3-0 on Wednesday night at Mirabito Stadium. The Ponies opened the second half of the season and the series with a win.

Scott (3-0) threw a career-high seven scoreless innings with six strikeouts. He allowed just two hits and two walks. The 24-year-old faced the minimum in six of his seven innings of work.

In three starts at the Double-A level for Binghamton, Scott is 3-0 and has combined for 23 strikeouts over 18.2 innings. He has allowed just three runs on eight hits and four walks over that span.

Daison Acosta pitched a perfect eighth inning with two strikeouts and William Woods struck out two batters over a scoreless ninth inning. Woods earned his first save of the year with Binghamton.

Hartford's (0-1, 29-39) starter Case Williams held the Ponies in check with four scoreless frames, until they were able to break through in the fifth inning. Hayden Senger delivered a sacrifice fly that scored Agustin Ruiz and Wyatt Young hit an RBI single that scored Jose Mena to give Binghamton a 2-0 lead.

The Ponies added another run in the eighth inning on Ruiz's RBI single that scored Young. The left-handed batter had just four hits this season against left-handed pitchers up until that point, but delivered in a big spot to give Binghamton a 3-0 lead.

The Rumble Ponies will continue their series with the Yard Goats on Thursday night. First pitch is set for 6:35 PM and pregame coverage gets underway at 6:20 PM on the WNBF Rumble Ponies Radio Network.

Postgame Notes: Scott, Acosta, and Woods combined to toss a three-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts...Branden Fryman extended his hitting streak to six games...Jaylen Palmer made his Double-A debut and made a diving catch in his first chance in left field.
