Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release
GRAND CHUTE, WI - The last time Scooter Gennett was in a Wisconsin Timber Rattlers uniform it was the end of the 2010 season. Since that time, Gennett has made his way to the major leagues as the second baseman of the Milwaukee Brewers. Gennett returns to the Rattlers for a rehabilitation assignment with the Midwest League affiliate of the Brewers that begins on Friday, May 1.
The Brewers website reports that Gennett will play four games for the Timber Rattlers from May 1 through May 4 as he makes his way back from an injured left hand.
Injured Brewers second baseman Scooter Gennett had stitches removed from his injured left hand Wednesday and will begin a Minor League rehabilitation assignment Friday, Milwaukee manager Ron Roenicke said.
Gennett will play four games with the Class A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, Roenicke said. He is then scheduled to be activated from the 15-day disabled list for Tuesday's home game against the Dodgers.
The Timber Rattlers will host the Quad Cities River Bandits in the first three games of Gennett's rehab assignment. Game times are 6:35pm on Friday and 1:05pm on Saturday and Sunday. The final game of his assignment is Monday against the Cedar Rapids Kernels at 6:35pm.
Gennett was named to a pair of Midwest League All-Star teams while he was with the Timber Rattlers in 2010. He was named the starting second baseman for the West Division squad for the All-Star Game in Fort Wayne at the midway point of the season. He was also named the second baseman for the Midwest League Postseason All-Star team after the season.
He hit .309 with nine homers and 55 RBI in 118 games with Wisconsin in his first professional season.
