Kane County Cougars News Release

BURLINGTON, Iowa- Despite four lead changes, the Kane County Cougars (9-12) evened up the series with a 5-4 win over the Burlington Bees (12-8) Wednesday evening at Community Field.

Down 1-0 the Cougars tied the game on Cody Regis' RBI double in the top of the fourth inning, but Regis wasn't done for night. An inning later Sergio Alcantara sacrificed home Marty Herum with a fly ball to center field.

Markus Solbach held the Bees to only one run through the first five innings, but produced his own trouble in the sixth. The right-hander started the frame by hitting Caleb Adams and allowing the tying run to score on a double from Andrew Daniel. Burlington eventually scored three runs while knocking out Solbach in the sixth, using only one hit.

The Cougars' offense prevailed with two runs in the seventh to tie the game. Regis became the hero once again with a single up the middle to score Grant Heyman for a 5-4 Cougars' lead.

The bullpen took over as Zac Curtis (1-1), Luis Ramirez and Mason McCullough (4) all tossed perfect innings in the final three frames.

Jonah Wesely (0-1) suffered the loss and the blown save allowing three unearned runs through two innings.

The Cougars and Bees wrap up the series Thursday morning from Community Field at 11:30 a.m. Cougar right-hander Brent Jones (1-2, 4.56) takes the mound against Burlington's Austin Robichaux (1-1, 3.29). The game can be heard on AM 1280 WBIG and kccougars.com.
