Toledo Mud Hens News Release

DURHAM, N.C. - Kade Scivicque and Spenser Watkins were both called up and played their first game in a Toledo uniform, but the Mud Hens were defeated 6-2 by the Durham Bulls.

Scivicque started behind the plate and hit a two-run blast over the left field fence in his first plate appearance. Watkins took to the mound in an emergency call up and suffered a loss in his debut (4.2 IP, 7H, 5R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 4 SO, 2 HR).

Dawel Lugo flashed some leather and caught a line drive off the bat of Joe McCarthy and fired the ball to Chad Huffman at first to double-up Willy Adames.

The Mud Hens (16-11) recorded five hits on the night, the most important being the long ball by Scivicque. Jim Adduci also scored on the homerun which gave Toledo a 2-1 lead in the top of the second inning.

Durham (16-11) would come back by adding three runs in the bottom half of the inning and taking a 4-2 lead. Curt Casali drove a single to left to plate one and Micah Johnson doubled to left which brought in two.

Watkins found his groove in the third inning and used an 11-pitch inning to down the Bulls offense. In his last 1.2 innings, Watkins faced six batters recording three strikeouts and allowing one hit which Kean Wong drove over the left-center fence.

The Hens bullpen provided a solid performance going 3.1 innings. Phillippe Aumont gave a solid relief effort in 1.1 innings pitched giving up zero hits, zero runs, three walks and two strikeouts. Kevin Comer then pitched a scoreless inning recording one strikeout. The right handed sidearm pitcher, Louis Coleman, then pitched an inning giving up two hits, one run, one walk and striking out one batter.

The Toledo bats went quiet after the third inning as Christin Stewart recorded the only hit after that point by way of a lead off single in the eighth inning. The Hens ended with five hits on the night leaving seven runners on base. Durham recorded nine hits and left eight runners on base.

The Mud Hens return to Athletic Park tomorrow night to end their road trip with the first pitch scheduled for 5:05 p.m.
