LAST TIME OUT: MOOSIC, Pa. (May 4, 2018) - A late comeback bid fell short as the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders were defeated by the Pawtucket Red Sox 5-4 Friday night at PNC Field. Pawtucket took an early 1-0 lead when Mike Ohlman connected for a solo home run against Chance Adams. The righty allowed a second solo home run to Ohlman in the top of the sixth, but otherwise was strong.

Adams allowed just two runs on three hits in 6.0 innings, walking two and striking out four. The outing was the first quality start of the season for the prospect hurler. In the top of the seventh, the Red Sox plated a run against Oliver Perez. Jeremy Barfield doubled and came around to score on a single from Chad De La Guerra to extend the advantage to 3-0.

The RailRiders broke through in the bottom of the seventh against reliever Williams Jerez. Billy Fleming singled with one out and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Two batters later, Zack Zehner drove him in with a single. Tyler Wade continued the rally with a single to put runners on the corners, and Thairo Estrada delivered a hit-and-run single to plate two runs and tie the game at 3-3.

In the bottom of the ninth trailing 5-3, Ryan McBroom doubled to right center against Ryan Brasier and scored on a single from pinch-hitter Adam Lind. Wade reached on an infield single to put runners at first and second, but Brasier was able to settle down and close the door for the PawSox by striking out Estrada and Clint Frazier to strand the winning run at first base.

HE LIND AN RBI SINGLE...: INF Adam Lind, a longtime MLB 1B/OF was added to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders roster prior to Friday's game against Pawtucket. He was summoned from the bench in the bottom of the 9th inning to pinch-hit for OF Zack Zehner and promptly lined and RBI single into center field to bring the RailRiders back to within a run. He was pinch-run for at first base by INF/OF L.J. Mazzilli who was stranded at second base as the tying run when the game came to a close.

DON'T DISTRACT ME: With LHP Josh Rogers (2-2, 3.00) getting the ball at 6:15 p.m., he's going to have his attention away from the Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers game that tips-off at 5:00 p.m. When at University of Louisville, Rogers became very friendly with many of the other athletes on campus, but particularly Celtics PG Terry Rozier. The New Albany, Ind.-native grew up a Cleveland Cavaliers fan, but potentially won't have to make any tough decisions on who to root for in the NBA Playoffs until the Eastern Comference Championship Series.

RIVALRY, TRIPLE-A STYLE: In several decades of the Pawtucket and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre franchises going toe-to-toe, very little has been decided in the all-time series. Saturday night represents the 482nd meeting between the two and SWB holds a slight 242-239 advantage following Friday's 5-4 loss. A season ago the RailRiders overtook the PawSox in the series by winning 13 of the 18 matchups.

AGGRESSIVELY TURNING THE PAGE: The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders finished the month of April with a 10-13 (.435) record. The last time the team finished April three games under .500 was in 2003 (.440) and the last time they had a win percentage that low after the first month of play was 20 years ago (1998: 8-12, .400). They have been off to a hot start to begin the month of May with a 3-1 record, with the three-game win streak to begin the month matching their longest winning streak of the season.

TRIPLE-A DEBUT: INF Thairo Estrada made his Triple-A debut for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders April 30th against the Buffalo Bisons, but is off to a slow start. The No. 9 prospect in the New York Yankees organization according to Baseball America is just 2-for-21 to begin his Triple-A career, but the two hits have driven in a combined three runs.
