Gwinnett took a 2-1 lead in the eighth, only to see Indianapolis win it in their last at-bat for the second time in the series.
With the score tied at 1-1 in the top of the eighth, Phil Gosselin drew a leadoff walk from Indians reliever Josh Smoker. Sean Kazmar Jr. followed with a blooper to shallow center. Jason Hursh was brought in from the bullpen and he walked Ryan Lavarnway, pushing across Osuna for a 3-2 lead. The lead went to 4-2 when Luplow crossed the plate from third before Gwinnett completed a reverse-force double play that ended the inning.
The Stripers scored the first run of the game in the top of the third, when Peter Bourjos led off with a long triple to center off Indians starter Tyler Eppler and scored from third on an infield single by Gosselin. The Indians tied up the game at 1-1 on an RBI single by Weiss in the bottom of the fourth off Gwinnett reliever Phil Pfeifer.
The 1-1 tied lasted until the clubs combined for four runs in the eighth inning.
Miguel Socolovich was call upon for a spot start for the Stripers and tossed 3.0 scoreless innings with three hits and two strikeouts. Pfeifer went 3.0 innings with three hits, one earned run, three walks and four strikeouts. Brothers (L, 1-1) worked 1.1 innings with two hits and three earned runs, one walk and one strikeout.
