Springfield Falcons News Release
Springfield, MA - The Springfield Falcons, proud members of the American Hockey League, announced today that left wing Rob Schremp has been named to the PlanetUSA AHL All-Star Roster and he will take part in the 2008 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Reebok on January 27-28 in Binghamton, NY.
Schremp currently leads the Falcons in scoring this season with nine goals and 30 assists for 39 points in 37 games. The Syracuse, NY native is currently eighth in the AHL in scoring and is fifth in the league in assists. Schremp had a stretch of games where he registered at least a point in 13 out of 14 games from November 17-December 15. He has also recorded a pair of overtime game-winning goals this season, the first occurring on Sunday, October 7 against Manchester and the second happening on Wednesday, November 28 at Providence.
The 5-foot-11, 200-pound forward is in his second season of professional hockey after spending the majority of last season with the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. In 69 games with Wilkes-Barre during the 2006-07 campaign, Schremp totaled 17 goals and 36 assists for 53 points ranking third on the team in scoring, just three points shy of the team lead in points. Schremp made his NHL debut as a member of the Edmonton Oilers on April 5, 2007 against the Minnesota Wild.
Before turning pro, Schremp led the Ontario Hockey League in scoring during the 2005-06 season collecting 57 goals and 88 assists for 145 points. He finished a very impressive junior career with 384 career points in 247 games, including 90 points in 54 post-season contests. Schremp played for Team USA in both the 2004-05 and 2005-06 World Junior Championships.
