
Columbus Recalls Brassard, Kowalski Released

Syracuse, NY (January 10, 2008) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled center Derick Brassard. In addition, the Crunch have released goaltender Craig Kowalski from his professional try-out contract.
Brassard, 20, has appeared in 21 games for the Crunch this season, tallying 5 goals, 20 assists and 20 penalty minutes. Brassard was recently selected to represent the Crunch in the 2008 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Reebok. A native of Hull, Quebec, Brassard was drafted by Columbus in the first round, sixth overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
Kowalski, 26, appeared in 4 games for the Crunch this season, going 2-1-0-0 with a 2.36 goals-against average and .906 save percentage. A native of Clinton Township, Michigan, Kowalski was signed by the Crunch to a professional try-out contract on December 15, 2007.
The Crunch's next game is Friday, January 11 as they travel to Hamilton to take on the Bulldogs.
