Aucoin and Nolan Go Back To Carolina

ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats announced today that center Keith Aucoin and left wing Brandon Nolan have been recalled to the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League.

Aucoin, 29, returned to Albany's lineup on Wednesday and was a major factor in the River Rats 3-1 win on the road in Manchester by recording two assists. The Albany captain played for Carolina on Tuesday night in Boston in the Hurricanes 1-0 shutout of the Bruins, his 500th professional hockey game. After the game Tuesday night Aucoin traveled north to meet up with Albany for their game against the Monarchs. The Waltham, Massachusetts native is currently leading the team in scoring with 34 points (7 goals, 27 assists) in 30 games and he is the only player on the roster averaging over one point per game (1.13 points/game). Aucoin has three assists in nine games for Carolina this year, averaging eight minutes of ice time per game.

Nolan, 24, was reassigned to Albany on Tuesday morning, prior to the Hurricane's game with Boston; he and Aucoin traveled together Tuesday night to join up with the River Rats. The St. Catharine's, Ontario native returned to the Albany lineup on Wednesday, setting up Jerome Samson's first period goal, getting his 14th AHL assist this year. Nolan is currently tied for second on the River Rats in points (27) and goals (13) and returns to Carolina where he has played in four games for the Hurricanes this season.

The River Rats continue their busy week as they travel to Maine for a Friday night game against the Portland Pirates at 7:05 pm at the Cumberland County Civic Center. Albany's next home game comes on Saturday, January 12th against the Worcester Sharks at the Times Union Center.
