Schaeffer to Manage in Arizona Fall League

Albuquerque Isotopes manager Warren Schaeffer was named the manager for the 2022 Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, it was announced today by Major League Baseball.

The Arizona Fall League is a six-team league comprised of the top prospects in MLB. Since its inception in 1992, the AFL has produced dozens of MLB All-Stars, Rookies of the year and MVPs, including Mike Trout, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Max Scherzer, Albert Pujols and Derek Jeter. Former managers of the Arizona Fall League include Dusty Baker, Mike Scioscia, Bob Melvin and Terry Francona.

Schaeffer will manage players from five MLB teams that will comprise the Rafters roster: Arizona Diamondbacks, Colorado Rockies, Detroit Tigers St. Louis Cardinals, and Toronto Blue Jays.

The initial Salt River Rafters roster has five players on MLB Pipeline's Top 100 prospect list: 6. 3B Jordan Walker (St. Louis); 13. SS Jordan Lawlar (Arizona); 24. OF Zac Veen (Colorado); 54. SS Masyn Winn (St. Louis); 95. RHP Tink Hence (St. Louis).

The AFL season begins on Monday, October 3 and runs through Saturday, November 12.
