Long Island Ducks News Release
(Central Islip, N.Y., Aug. 26, 2011) - Long Island Ducks officials today announced that due to the impending inclement weather this weekend, Saturday's (August 27) game against the York Revolution and Sunday's (August 28) game against the Somerset Patriots have been postponed. The decision to postpone the games is being made preemptively for the safety and comfort of all Ducks fans as they prepare for the impending weather.
Saturday's (8/27) game will be made up on Tuesday, September 6 at Bethpage Ballpark. First pitch is slated for a special 6:00 PM start time, with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35, giving young fans the opportunity to cheer on the Ducks but get home early enough to be well rested for school the next day. Ticketholders for this Saturday's game must use their tickets for admission to the Tuesday, September 6 game only. That night will still be Realtors Against Hunger Night at the ballpark, and the first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive Flashlights, courtesy of the Long Island Board of Realtors.
Sunday's (8/28) game will be made up as part of a single admission doubleheader on Tuesday, August 30, with both games slated for seven innings. Game time for the first game of the doubleheader is set for 6:05 PM, with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35. Game two will begin approximately 30 minutes after the completion of the opener. Tickets for Sunday's game can be used for admission to the doubleheader on Tuesday, August 30, and must be exchanged at the Bethpage Ballpark box office.
Mascot Day and the Inflatable Bat giveaway to the first 1,500 fans, originally scheduled for Sunday courtesy of Kids in Sports LI, will now take place during the day game of the day/night doubleheader on Saturday, September 10 at 1:05 PM. That game will also be a peanut free day at Bethpage Ballpark, and there will be no sale of peanuts at the ballpark, giving fans struggling with peanut allergies the opportunity to attend a baseball game. The Ducks continue their homestand on Friday night when they take on the York Revolution Game time is slated for 7:05 PM, with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 6:05.
