BIRMINGHAM, AL - The Santa Cruz Warriors (5-7) fell to the Birmingham Squadron (6-5) Tuesday night, 122-110.
The Warriors were down by as many as 18 points in the first but finished the quarter on an 8-0 run to go into the second down by nine, 35-26. Santa Cruz gained a brief lead in the second quarter, but Birmingham fought back and took a six-point lead into halftime, 66-60.
Birmingham worked hard to extend their halftime lead and entered the fourth quarter leading, 99-83. Santa Cruz outscored the Squadron, 11-3, in the final three minutes of regulation but came up short in the comeback to drop to 5-7 in the regular season.
Santa Cruz Guard Kalob Ledoux came off the bench and led the team with 24 points. Forward LJ Figueroa tallied a double-double (21 points and 10 rebounds) and Ryan Taylor had a big night behind the arc to finish the night with 16 points (4-8 3FG).
Birmingham had all five starters in double figures with Jared Harper and Zach Hankins both leading the team with 20 points. Forward Zylan Cheatham earned his sixth straight double-double (18 points, 11 rebounds) and guard Joe Young dished out 10 assists to go along with 19 points.
