JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Florida Marlins have announced a series of transactions that affects their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Suns roster prior to tonight's game against the Birmingham Barons at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

Right-handed relief pitcher Sandy Rosario has been placed on the disabled list, retroactive to June 30 with a right index finger nail avulsion. Rosario in 34 relief appearances this season is 2-2 with a 3.28 ERA, and the Southern League All-Star leads the league with 19 saves. In addition, right-handed relief pitcher Corey Madden has been placed on the temporary inactive list due to family matters.

In corresponding moves, two pitchers have been called up to Jacksonville from High-A Jupiter. Right-handed relief pitcher Jose Rosario rejoins the Suns after going 2-1 in Jupiter with a 3.21 ERA. Rosario has made two relief appearances for Jacksonville this season, going 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA in three innings on the mound.

In addition to Rosario, left-handed pitcher Jose Alvarez has been transferred from Jupiter to Jacksonville. In 15 games and 14 starts with the Hammerheads, Alvarez is 6-5 with a 2.96 ERA. The Venezuela native was acquired by the Marlins from the Boston Red Sox with pitcher Hunter Jones for outfielder Jeremy Hermida in a trade on Nov. 9, 2009.

The Suns roster now stands at 24, and a revised roster has been attached.

The Suns and Barons will play the fourth game of the six-game series on Friday night at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. The Suns will start right-hander Joey O'Gara (4-5, 4.19 ERA) against Birmingham's right-hander Terry Doyle (2-2, 2.69 ERA).

The game will feature an appearance from BirdZerk, the wildest character entertaining today, and will also feature a postgame fireworks show courtesty of NAPA Autoparts and your local NAPA Autocare Center Dealers. Friday's first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m., and fans can listen to the game beginning at 6:50 p.m. with the U.F. & Shands Pregame Show on Jacksonville's WFXJ AM 930 the Fox and www.jaxsuns.com.
