Chattanooga Lookouts News Release
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - After receiving well over 100 promotional ideas from fans, the Lookouts staff has whittled down the field of competition to 10 in the "My Lookouts Promotion" contest. The following 10 promotional ideas have made the cut, and now fans will have the opportunity to vote from July 1-8 on their favorite promotional idea. The top vote-getting idea will be the featured promotion for the regular season finale game on September 5th against the Montgomery Biscuits. Without further adieu, here are the finalists: Lookouts Survivor (submitted by James Harrison): During each game leading up to the season finale on September 5th, fans will have the opportunity to sign up at AT&T Field to become a contestant on "Lookouts Survivor." At each game, 10 contestants will be announced, who will be given two free general admission tickets to the September 5th game. During the early innings, the Lookouts will draw 10 finalists (and alternatives if any of the 10 finalists drawn are not present) from the list of contestants. Once the 10 finalists have been selected, they will engage in a series of contests in which a person is eliminated until one person is left standing and deemed the winner. The winner will receive a grand prize, while the other finalists will also receive prizes.
Lookouts (Don't) Got Talent Contest (submitted by Bill Stephens): Fans with special talents will have the opportunity to submit their videos displaying their skills to the Lookouts prior to the September 5th game. The Lookouts will then select the best and absolutely worst submissions and invite the finalists as guests to perform their special skills before the fans of AT&T Field. Fans will then determine which contestant has the best and absolutely worst talent. The winner will receive a grand prize, while the other finalists will also receive prizes.
Facebook & Twitter Fans Promotion (submitted by Tom Chatfield): On the front end, for every additional 200 fans added from July 8th to September 4th to the Official Lookouts Fan Page and Twitter page, 25 cents will be deducted from the price of each regularly priced ticket for the September 5th game. Additionally, several special components of the game, such as discounted food items, contests, and prize items, will be voted and decided upon by fans on the Official Lookouts Fan Page.
Winning Inning (submitted by Tim Swaney): Each inning will be treated like a game in and of itself throughout the entire game. Right before each inning, several sections will be announced, and if the Lookouts score more runs in that inning than their opponent, the Montgomery Biscuits, everyone in those sections will receive a prize or discounted item. Each section at AT&T Field will have a chance to be a participant throughout the game.
80's Couples (submitted by Jonathan Cate): Nostalgia and romance will flow through the air at AT&T Field, as fans donning 80's garb will receive half-priced tickets across the board. Fans in their 80's will also receive half-priced tickets. 80's music and video clips will be played throughout the game, and only individuals wearing 80's attire will participate in between-inning contests. A contest at the end of the game will determine which couple has the best 80's attire. The winning couple will win a special prize.
Tattoo Promotion (submitted by Tom Snyder): Show your tattoo for half-priced admission, browse local artists works at tables inside, and if you have a genuine, permanent Lookouts tattoo, you will receive season tickets for next season!
Lookouts Raffle Drawing (submitted by Michael Smith): In similar fashion to "Used Car Night" and "College Football Night," fans will have the opportunity to fill out and submit their names in a drawing that will take place throughout the game. Each inning, one lucky fan will be selected and win a prize. Possible prizes could include: autographed items, merchandise, and ticket packages.
LOOK-alike Contest (submitted by William Crete): Prior to the September 5th game, fans can submit photos of themselves and their celebrity look-a-like. The Lookouts will then narrow down the top submissions and give those individuals a free ticket to the September 5th game. Throughout the game, doppelgangers will square off against each other, and fans will determine the winners, whittling down the competition before ultimately determining the ultimate victor at the end. The winner will receive a grand prize, while the other finalists will also receive prizes.
Kazooaplooza (submitted by Dean Yankauskas): A set number of kazoos will be given out to fans before the game. The crowd will perform "Take Me out to the Ballgame" with their kazoos during the seventh-inning stretch. Additionally, subject to finding a highly proficient kazoo player, the National Anthem will be performed before the game by a kazoo virtuoso.
Scott Van Slyke Memorial Moustache (submitted by James Harrison): While Scott Van Slyke no longer sports his 2010 epic moustache, the Lookouts will commemorate his glorious 'stache with half-priced tickets across the board (lower & upper box, adult general admission) to all those proudly displaying a moustache. Also, the top mustaches present will be judged at the end of the game by a panel of Lookouts player, including Scott Van Slyke (subject to him still being with the team), with the winner receiving a Lookouts moustache wax and grooming kit.
Poll will begin on July 1st and end at noon on July 8th. A winner will be announced immediately following the closing of the poll. Fans can access the poll at the following web address: https://www.facebook.com/pages/My-Lookouts-Promotion-Poll/247580958588741
The contest winner's promotional idea will be the featured promotion for the final regular season game on September 5th. Additionally, the winner will receive a skyboy rental for the game, an opportunity to throw out a first pitch for the game, and an autographed team baseball.
Second place will receive four box seats for the game, an opportunity to throw out a first pitch, and a team autographed baseball. Third place will receive four box seats for the game and a first pitch opportunity.
Additionally, the person who submits the idea which finishes in last place in the poll will have the dubious honor of throwing out the "last pitch" of the September 5th game, which will occur immediately following the conclusion of the 2:15 PM scheduled contest.
