JACKSON GENERALS RECAP: - The Chattanooga Lookouts won their seventh straight game Thursday night, 7-3 over the Jackson Generals at Pringles Park. The loss sent the Generals largest losing streak of the season to five straight. Chattanooga lost their first game of the second half, but now have rolled off seven consecutive wins, and taken the first three games over Jackson in the series. One positive from Thursday night was the Double-A debut of Vinnie Catricala. The first half California League All-Star had a 2-for-4 night, with a triple and an RBI. Catricala was the only General with multiple hits. Elian Herrera collected three of the Lookouts 13 hits on the night, including two doubles and a run. Travis Denker and Jaime Pedroza each had two-hit games. Anthony Vasquez (5-7) suffered the loss Thursday and surrendered three earned runs on nine hits in six innings. Vasquez fanned five and walked none. Dodgers #4 prospect Chris Withrow (3-5) was credited with the victory after firing six shutout innings while scattering two hits. Withrow struck out eight and walked one.

AT A GLANCE: Jake Shaffer has hit safely in 5 of his last 7 games, batting .320 (8x25) with 4 runs scored, 2 double, 1 home run and 3 RBI. Rich Poythress has hit safely in 8 of his last 9 games, .406 (13x32) with 3 runs scored, 2 doubles, 1 triple and 2 RBI. Scott Savastano is batting .462 (6x13) with 1 run, 1 double, 1 home run and 3 RBI in last 4 games.

TODAY'S STARTER: All-Star righty Andrew Carraway makes his 10th start of the season tonight against Chattanooga. Carraway is coming off his first loss of the season Sunday against Montgomery. Andrew is 4-0, with a 1.96 ERA at Pringles Park this season. Carraway ranks 4th in the Southern League with a 3.90 ERA and ranks 5th in opponents batting average at .221.

ALUMNI REPORT: Dustin Ackley has reached base safely, via hit or walk, in first 12 games of his MLB career for Seattle...12-game streak is 2nd longest streak by Mariner to begin a career behind Alvin Davis' 47-game streak in 1984.since making debut on June 17, Ackley has hit safely in 10 of 12 games (12-for-40/.300) and collected 5 walks, including at least 1 in each of his hitless games.has .378 on-base percentage over 12-G span.Ackley is batting .750 (6x8) vs. left-handers. Kyle Seager hit his first Triple-A homer last night for Tacoma, a three-run shot in the second off of Fresno's Ronnie Ray. Seager added two other hits along with a walk to finish 3-for-4. He is now hitting .548 (17-for-31) since being called up from Double-A Jackson.

Saturday's game time is 6:05 PM with the Postgame Fireworks presented by State Farm. Sunday's game time is also at 6:05 PM with the Postgame Fireworks presented by Physicians Quality Care.

Gibson will pitch 23 innings before giving up another run. 1945 - The first of the superstars returns from the war.
