Jacksonville, FL - Terry Doyle surrendered one earned run on six hits and six strikeouts in 8.0 IP as the Birmingham Barons (6-3, 46-33) dismantled the Jacksonville Suns (2-7, 39-40), 4-1, in front of 5,321 fans Friday night at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

Jacksonville seized a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Kevin Mattison smacked a leadoff triple to right field and scampered home on Doyle's wild pitch.

In the top of the second inning Alden Carrithers drew a two-out walk and advanced to second on a single into shallow left field by Greg Paiml. With runners on first and second, Jared Priced connected on his first home run of the season, a three-run shot over the left-field wall as the Barons captured a two-run lead, 3-1.

Paiml reached on a fielding error by Suns third baseman Neil Sellers to leadoff the fifth inning and reached third after Price singled and Justin Greene drew a walk. With the bases loaded, Tyler Kuhn lifted a sacrifice fly that knocked home Paiml and gave the Birmingham a three-run edge, 4-1.

Doyle (3-2) earned the victory for the Barons after the right-hander yielded one earned run on six hits and six strikeouts in 8.0 IP. Addison Reed (S, 1) slammed the door for his first save with Birmingham when the righty tossed 1.0 scoreless IP with one hit and one strikeout.

Joey O'Gara (4-6) suffered the defeat for the Suns when the right-hander surrendered four runs (three earned) on 6 hits, 2 walks and 4 strikouts in 6.0 IP.

Birmingham and Jacksonville play the fifth game of their six-game series Saturday night at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville, with first pitch set for 6:05 p.m. (CDT). Left-hander Justin Edwards (3-1, 3.68) will take the mound for the Barons as the Suns turn righty Brad Hand (7-2, 4.15).
