
Catricala Helps Generals Break Losing Skid Friday

JACKSON, TENN. - Vinnie Catricala was a triple short of the cycle Friday night as the Generals snapped a five-game losing streak, defeating Chattanooga 7-4. The win also snapped the Lookouts' seven-game winning streak. Catricala, in his second Double-A game was 3-for-4 with a homer, single, double and four RBI's Catricala is 5-for-8 (.625) with five RBI's in his first two games with the Generals.
Andrew Carraway (6-1) collected the victory for the Generals on the mound. The All-Star righty surrendered just two earned runs in 6.2 innings, striking out five and walking one. Will Savage (8-3) suffered the loss allowing six earned runs on 11 hits in six innings. Steve Delabar walked one and allowed a hit, but logged his sixth save in the ninth inning.
Jake Shaffer, Scott Savastano and Brandon Bantz collected two hits apiece for Jackson. Elian Herrera collected the only multi-hit game for Chattanooga finishing 2-for-5
Both teams scored in the first inning, Chattanooga scored on a single by Elian Herrera that scored Afredo Sliverio. With Jackson trailing 1-0, Johermyn Chavez belted a double down the third base line that scored Scott Savastano and Rich Poythress. The Generals took a 2-1 lead that lasted for a while.
The Generals extended their lead to 5-1 on the 3-run homerun by Vinnie Catricala. The homer was his first in Double-A and 17th combined between High Desert and Jackson.
Chattanooga pulled closer by scoring a single run in the sixth and seventh innings. Kyle Russell doubled in the run in the sixth and Hector Gimenez singled in the run in the seventh.
Jackson took advantage of two errors in the bottom of the seventh and scored two runs to extend the lead to 7-3. Rich Poythress plated the second run on a sacrifice fly after the first scored on an error.
The Generals and Lookouts continue their six-game series Saturday night at Pringles Park, with first pitch set for 6:05. Saturday night there will be a Postgame Fireworks Extravaganza, presented by State Farm. Rally, everyone's favorite mascot will make an appearance and it is Modern Woodmen Night. RHP Erasmo Ramirez (6-4, 4.67) makes the start for the Generals against LHP Michael Antonini (5-8, 4.30) for Chattanooga.
