The Savannah Sand Gnats broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the seventh inning and went on to defeat the Lexington Legends 4-2 to gain a split of a four-game series at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. Savannah scored a run in the first inning . Darrell Ceciliani led off with a double, advanced to third on Wilfredo Tovar's single, and scored on Rafael Fernandez's groundout.

The Legends tied the game in the second when Ben Heath led off with a home run to right field. The score remained 1-1 until the top of the seventh. With one out, Savannah's Jet Butler hit a ground-rule double to right. Luis Nieves then reached first on an infield single as Butler stayed at second. Butler advanced to third after a fly ball to center field by Alonzo Harris, and Nieves later moved to second on a wild pitch as Butler held at third. Ceciliani's grounder to first was fielded by first baseman Telvin Nash, but pitcher Gabriel Garcia failed to cover first. Ceciliani was safe at first, and Butler and Nieves scored, giving the Sand Gnats a 3-1 lead. The Legends got one run back in the eighth when Ben Orloff tripled with one out and scored on a single by Delino DeShields Jr. Savannah added an insurance run in the ninth. Joe Bonfe hit a grounder to third base that was bobbled by Mike Kvasnicka for an error. Orloff, the shortstop, picked up the ball after Kvasnicka's miscue and threw past first for a second error, allowing Bonfe to go to second base. Butler followed with a ground ball to Orloff, whose throw to third was too late to get Bonfe, leaving runners at first and third. Harris singled to score Bonfe with Savannah's final run.

Savannah starter Angel Cuan (8-1) got the win. Legends reliever Gabriel Garcia (1-3) was handed the loss.

The Legends will continue their homestand with a three-game series against Hagerstown. First pitch Saturday night is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
